ABOUT MEMBERSHIP

There are three types of membership in the Society namely :

a) Ordinary Members - It is opened to :

  • any person who holds the Diploma for Public Health Inspectors from the Royal Society of Health or a degree in Environmental Health Science or its equivalent, or
  • any person who is an associate member of the Society for a continuous period of 3 years and possesses a university degree or a polytechnic diploma or who is employed in the field of environmental health for at least 3 years and possesses a university degree or a polytechnic diploma

b) Associate Members - It is opened to :

  • any person who is not qualified to be an ordinary member under rule 5(a)(i) but is employed in the field of environmental health work

c) Hononary Members - It is opened to :

  • any person who by virtue of his professional qualification is able to guide and advise the Society to attain its objects and such person shall be invited by the Committee

The decision to accept or refuse the admission of a person to be a member shall rest on the Committee which shall be final.

Honorary and Associate members shall not be entitled to vote and hold office in the Society.

Any person wishing to join the Society as an ordinary or associate member shall submit his application in writing to the Honorary Secretary giving details of his personal particulars and qualifications.

An entrance fee of $5/- shall be payable on application and the annual subscription is $16/-. If a member joins the Society for a period less than twelve months, the subcription payable shall be broken into quarters of $4/- each and shall be proportional.

Members who are 60 years and above shall not be required to pay further subscription provided they have been paying subscription for the past three years. Members under this category, who failed to attend 2 consecutive AGMs, shall be deleted from the Society's Register of Members unless the Committee decides otherwise.
